| Subject: No Peace Deal Yet Wed Aug 26, 2009 8:14 am | |
| The peace talks and a pending peace deal between Israel and Palestine are still being negotiated behind closed doors. The news reports indicate the closed meetings with Benjamin Netanyahu and George Mitchell have made positive steps towards a future peace deal. Obama is tenatively scheduled to release specifics from these negotiations either at a meeting of world leaders at the UN general assembly in New York in the week beginning Sept. 23 or the G20 summit in Pittsburgh on Sept. 24-25. So for now, we will continue to wait and see what will be revealed in September. Besides the normal negotiation specifics we've seen in the past, I expect to see Jerusalem being split to accomodate for a two-state solution. In my opinion this will be the milestone towards the peace deal that will usher in a new era in the Middle East, which of course will only be temporary. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/aug/25/barack-obama-middle-east-peacehttp://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601085&sid=ar5p386xKUTkRobert S. | |

| Subject: Geneva Initiative Proposal Tue Sep 15, 2009 1:12 pm | |
| Today the Geneva Initiative ( http://www.geneva-accord.org/) revealed a proposal for achieving peace between Israel and Palestine in a 400 page document. The proposal was created by a group of private individuals that are experts from Israel and Palenstine. The document is very detailed and includes maps of the proposed borders. I would assume George Mitchell and his team will be reviewing this proposal as they gear up for talks between Israel and Palestine. The proposal is available online with the individual sections as seperate links: http://www.geneva-accord.org/mainmenu/annexes I was particularly interested in how Jerusalem (the Old City) will be seperated.
