I think that canning on a flat top stove is possibly not
recommended. The heat is high and for a long time, and it is possible they
could crack, IIRC. Do you have access to an outdoor grill with propane? Many
women can outdoors on the grill, with the added bonus of keeping the kitchen
cool !

Both Presto and Mirro pressure canners up to 21 quarts say
they are safe to be used on ceramic flat stovetops. What you need to be careful
with is making sure that the pressure canner is not larger than the burner.
That is what holds in the heat and causing cracking. The All-American brand
cannot be used on a ceramic flat stove top because they are larger than most
burners.
